Thanks guys, he is doing even better now. Yesterday he had an off leash walk in the yard with my other fun-kids. He had the time of his life, I did have to slow down the play a few times but after that they all had a long nap in the same room.  It sure is great to have the "kids" back together.

I am really glad to hear that he is doing better. It is a little less hard for my boy since the thing he likes to guard is "his" futon, so he is more than happy to spend the day on it. The time will go by a lot faster than you think. It has been almost 9 weeks for Sugar Bear and we can now do short leashed walks. I can not wait until he can spend time with the others taking a nap under the oak tree.  Anyway good luck and keep us posted.

It could be the pain meds. What did they give him? Don't worry if it takes him a few days before he will poop, it took 6 days for Sugar Bear.

So glad your boy is home. The smaller you can make the space the better. He just needs enough room to turn around and that is about it. It took my boy 7 days to go poop so you may want to feed him some pumpkin to help him go. I took my boy in for his 8 weeek x-rays yesterday and his vet will now let him have a few leashed walks a day, but still no running, jumping or playing until after his next x-ray in four weeks. Anway good luck with Buster and enjoy the quite time with him.

Which type surgery did he have? The first week will be really hard but it will get better. It took Sugar Bear 7 days before he would poop and he lost 8 lbs during the first two weeks. I took his bed which is a futon and put it on the floor with x-pens around it so that I could sleep with him the fist few nights. He will only need just enough room to turn around not enough so that he can walk around. Sugar Bear was really good on potty walks so I was able to take the lead off and let him potty and them it was back in the house.  Good luck and keep us updated.

Hi, I am so sorry about the torn ACL. I take my Sugar Bear to the vet for his 8 week check up after TPLO surgery for a torn ACL.  I can tell you what just getting to the surgery day is the hard part. After the surgery each day gets a little better and better. My goal for Sugar Bear was just to walk without pain but now I can see that is he going to be better than that and will be playing with my other four pyrs in the next few months.  You need to join this yahoo board:  http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/orthodogs/

He is out of the cone now, and is soooooooooooo happy about that.  For now he is still on only potty walks but after next week we should get the ok to start short walks. That will go on for another 4-6 weeks before I can let him back in with the others.  I do have Izzy spending time with him in his room but one of them has to be in a crate.  I am calling the dog room recovery as Izzy had to have a couple of staples put in her ear from a fight with Dixie.  Long story but she is fine and gets the staples out on Monday. I tell you what there is something all the time with a five pyrs. But hey I love it and would not have it any other way.

You should give her a call just to talk pyrs. She really is one of the best breeders in pyrs that I know of.
