Make sure you all bring your own fresh water for your dog.  There is no fresh water at the beach.

Also, bring your own poop bags. YOU MUST CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR OWN DOG!!! There are trash cans available.

I will plan on being there around 10:30 too.  But to be perfectly honest with you, this is a very popular surfer beach and if you arrive any time after 9:00 AM, it is very difficult to find a place to park.... even driving up a half a block on Goldenwest and parking in the residential area, it is difficult to park.  So, if I can't find any place to park @ 10:30, I won't be able to visit with you all.

If you park in the metered parking lots, bring a roll of quarters ($10.00)... you will probably use them all.

184  BPO General Forum / General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / stop Calif. SB861 We need the Governor's VETO
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:30:51 AM »

Great Danes, Rottys, German Shepherds and Dobies are just a few of the breeds that may be targeted!! Please take a moment to follow the very easy letter-writing link and then make a phone call to let the Gov. know that dogs are individuals and should be judged as such. It is not OK to lump all them all together!!!

Send to everyone you know who can help stop SB861 We need the Governor's VETO

You can use the Dobe Club of America Lobby Tool to generate a fax and an email at the same time.  Link to instructions below.

NONCALIFORNIAN S please CALL that automated number.  You won't be talking to a live person, it's an automated system recording and tallying your yea and nay opinion.  Here's the governor's phone no. again:

(916) 445-2841
Press option 2, then 6, then 2.   You've done it!!!

CA SB 861 VETO CAMPAIGN: USE DPCA LOBBY TOOL, 9/6/05

"Now we are back in business!

We have a good chance for a veto.

Senator Speier, the sponsor of SB 861, is planning to run for Lieutenant Governor.  Senator Tom McClintock, our prime spokesman on the floor of the Senate the other day, is also planning to run for the same position.

McClintock does not want to give to Senator Speier the ability to trumpet 861 as a major legislative accomplishment in that election. He is taking the lead in lobbying for us against 861.

It is going to take many people to get involved - both Californians and non Californians.

When you use the LobbyNow Tool you will be sending a fax letter to Governor Schwarzenegger as well as an e-mail.

An additional copy will be sent to me and another to Jeff Helsdon so we can watch for any problems.

The LobbyNow Tool will generate many different versions of letters.  The Talking Points you see will be different than what others see. The Tool will randomly display a small number of available Talking Point Groups. The next person using the Tool will see a different selection of Groups.

Your fax needs to be no longer than one page! When you add your own comments you must keep the one page limit in mind. If you have a lot of comments, that's great! In that case, don't choose any Talking Points.

Your letter to the Governor can make all the difference!

Pick up the phone and call your friends - both Californians and non-Californians - and ask them to use the Tool to send their letters.  Non-Californians should use the Tool but should consider excluding your mailing addresses.

We especially need more participation from California voters to put SB 861 to sleep!  This does not mean non Californians should not send your faxes.  You should!  Senator McClintock's Chief of Staff made that very request today.

Here is the URL to send your letters:

      http://dpca.lobbynow.com/issues?SB861Governor

We need to get an overwhelming response to the Governor. Time is of the essence.

After finishing, please call the Governor's automated system by dialing:
(916) 445-2841
Press option 2, then 6, then 2.
It is very easy and you will NOT speak with a live person. It is
basically a poll. These will be counted in addition to our letters.

I think 12:00 may NOT be a good time ... mainly because at that time of day you will NEVER find a place to park. The H.B. Dog Beach is a very popular place for surfers too.   In addition to that ... YES it is still hot here.  12 Noon would be miserably HOT.

If it is scheduled for later in the afternoon, the dogs (and you) would be much more comfortable.

P.S.  I will be going too.

Hey there,

Has there been any talk about re-scheduling our So. California Get Together?

Samson and I would love to meet our So. Calif. friends.

Did you contact your local Animal Control and report the incident?  If not, you might want to do that.  Plus suggest to your other neighbor to do the same about the scene that he witnessed.

I got my 4 Year Old Great Dane from a rescue group in Riverside County, CA (I can't mention their name in public)

He is an absolute DREAM dog ... I couldn't ask for a better dog even if I made him myself.

Samson & I (Barbara) will be there.  Might I suggest to enter the beach at the North Entrance (closest to Seapoint Avenue).  This is the easiest access to the beach.

I'm in Orange County and would love to participate in a get together.

I noticed that you were suggesting 1:00 PM on July 30th.

Might I make a suggestion:  Our big doggies would have a hard time handling the heat at that time of day.  Plus, if you are wanting to meet at Huntington Beach Dog Beach ... there would be absolutely NO PARKING that time of day.   I would suggest that the meeting be earlier or much later in the day.

Hope to meet you all soon. Barb and Samson
