LOL  Nope, no other dogs had costumes, can you tell?  Wink  I was surprised that they didn't give Tenchi "Biggest" but that went to a newfy mix who was considerably smaller.  Oh well, I prefer the Most Lovable.  Cheesy

Tenchi really loved his certificate since the kids were helping carry it around... after they had eaten Super Chocolate Chip Cookies in the 100 degree weather.   Hmmm, makes one wonder why he was so interested in it.  Grin

Hairprincessny u,

Aussies are wonderful dogs, I'll never be without an Aussie and a Dane!  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I can only wish that I have Mojo until at least 14yrs of age.  He is 9yrs old now, so I'm holding on as long as I can!

Mojo, the red tri and the little one, Kida, are both Aussies.   Grin  The little one is a deaf/partially blind double merle Mini Aussie.  Kida was the runt in the litter and we got her at 6 months after my Zephyr angel passed on.  The blue merle girl, however is a BC/Sheltie cross.  Her mom was a working BC and her dad was a conformation blue merle Sheltie.  Though Zeo's personality is ALL BC.  lol

Saturday I took the kids and Tenchi to the Zucchini Festival in West Stockbridge, MA.  They had a pet show first thing and then lots of games and booths and even a pony ride.  There were two other danes in the pet show,  a blue and a black.  They were really sweet and very laid back.  Smiley  Tenchi was happy to meet someone closer to his size.  The other danes won Best Costumes(they were ballerinas Wink).    Tenchi won the Most Lovable award(even though they spelled his name wrong  lol).

After the pet show the kids did Zucchini races.  They got to pick out their Zucchini and then it was placed on stakes on a car bottom with a little flag on a toothpick on top.  They had a blast!  Then we went to wait for the pony rides, but instead of a pony they took this horse out of the trailer that was like 16-17 hands!  Tori was extremely happy since she has never ridden on a horse before, Spencer wasn't too sure.  So, we're waiting in line and they go to put the first kid on the horse, a 3yr old boy.  The horse rolls its eyes, throws its head back and tries to rear and take off!!! WTH?  I turned to Tori and said, Nope!  Sorry hunny, but you are NOT getting on that horse!"  Tori was pretty upset, since she's in the "little girl in love with horses" stage.  I felt so mean.  Can you believe they'd have a horse that skittish for kids' pony rides?  To top it off while we were walking away, the dad and handler were still trying to put the kid ON THAT HORSE!  Shocked

Anywhoo.... here are the few pictures that we took, a couple of the blue & black danes and a couple of Tenchi with his Most Lovable certificate.  Cheesy

Mojo & Faust were neutered later(like around 18months) and they were always trying to hump each other.  Mojo started it I believe, he always had a VERY dominant personality.  Since he's the oldest, he taught everyone else bad manners.  Tongue  I'll allow them to mount each other, but try and stop them with other dogs.  The reason being that you never know how another dog is going to react and its bullying behavior.  One thing to establish rank with their pack mates.. but don't need to do it with every new dog.  I'm the alpha and I say so.  Cheesy

Tenchi never did it until he was overcome by his love for a certain little Hobo.  Wink  Poor Hobo barely realized it because Tenchi's bits are like 18 inches higher than Hobo's back!  ROFLMAO   How I teach them to not do it, is to put them on a downstay to cool their jets.  lol  They might need a few reminders, but they get the picture.

Blair, there is no way that I'm going to tell you "NO".  Especially if y'all are moving up here and that means Tenchi will have TWO more dane friends to play with!  Wink

907  BPO Food Forum / Food Discussion & Information / Re: Innova Evo for Puppies?
« on: August 15, 2005, 01:32:52 PM »

I was told not to use it for puppies because of the High Protien.  However since Tenchi is over 2yrs now, I did switch him over on to it 2 weeks ago(the rest of the pack is on Canidae or Diamond).  Let me tell you he is doing GREAT on it!

It is a bit pricey(45$ for 28.6lbs).  The good news is that Tenchi eats a lot less of it compared to Diamond L&R, Eagle Pack Chicken Holistic, Canidae, and Nutro Large Breed.  With those other brands he was eating 10-12+cups a day and having trouble keeping weight on.  With Evo he's eating 5-7 cups and is filling out.  I bought this 28.6lb bag on August 5th and it still has a good deal left in it.  It has lasted WAY longer than the 33-40lb bags of those other brands, so I think that the higher price is worth it for us.  But if your dogs(or cats) are doing good on what they're eating, then there really should be no reason to switch.  Smiley

« on: August 15, 2005, 11:29:55 AM »

That is too funny.  Smiley  Back in High School, we used to go camping all the time.  Jay's parents owned 4 acres of wooded land and that was our "hangout".  My gsd/aussie mix, Tika, and my greyhound, Max, would go with us all the time.  Tika LOVED going camping, but Max usually refused to move off of the sleeping bags.  Tika even learned how to collect firewood once.  However after she helped us collecting sticks for a hour and then we turned around and lit them on fire... she was appalled!  Tika never picked up another stick for as long as we were camping.  She was a smart dog and couldn't figure why mommy & daddy burned up all her well deserved toys.  Wink  I felt bad because I hadn't even thought of it like that until she got really upset.  Poor pupper.

That jar near the end was an mostly empty peanut butter jar.  For as long as I can remember, I've always given them to the dogs.  I figure its kind of like a disposable Kong, even though they've been having them since before I knew what a Kong was.  Wink  The problem was that the normal jars are hard for Tenchi to get his muzzle into to reach the bottoms.  So he kind of got left out most of the time.  Then we got this HUGE jar of peanut butter and when it was finally done, I gave it to him.   The look on his face was PRICELESS!  lol  Tenchi was stunned that he got such an amazing treat and actually just carried in around on his bottom jaw for over an hour.  Finally he layed on his personal couch with it and enjoyed it.  Smiley  He is such a silly boy.

That field is great too, when we can go in it.  Sad  Right now, we're not allowed in it since they're growing some type of hay/alfalfa for the cows.  We'll get to run around in it again soon though, since they just mowed yesterday.  As soon as they bale or chop it, we can go for a nice run, but then we'll have to stay out of it again until the next mowing.  Tongue  I can't wait for hay season to be over, then we can use it all the time again.

I didn't realize until you mentioned it that it looks like water in that clip.  That's actually the same field they were playing in, just taken from the front steps.  Then the driveway/dirtroad is directly in front of the porch.  I taped him running because he tears butt when I sign "come" to him and usually almost knocks me down when he has to stop at the door.  lol  I think they need to build danes with better brakes.   Wink

PS  in a quick clip in the middle you can see Tenchi zooming and almost plow down poor Sanity(anky's dane puppy).

What a sad puss he has on his adorable face.   I bet some vanilla ice cream will perk him right up.  Wink  Tenchi gets mopey if I take too many pictures too.  He is one of the many masters of the poutie face.  lol

915  BPO Off Topic Forum / Anything Non-Dog Related / New Dog Movie Coming Out Soon (OT?)
« on: August 12, 2005, 02:16:32 AM »

Well, it'll be coming out probably next year.  The title of it is Dog Jack.  What's so special about this one and why am I telling you about it?   Dog Jack is being played by a dog from another list I'm on and we've been getting behind the scenes pictures for a couple of months.  Shocked)  The filming is ending this month and then it goes into all the finishing touches and whatnot.

Again, why is this so amazing?  Because the wonderful dog playing Dog Jack is a pit bull, named Piglet.  Its even more amazing because Piglet is DEAF!!!  Shocked)))))   Yes that's right, Piglet is a DEAF PITBULL  and she's one of the main stars in this movie!!

Piglet is proof that DEAF dogs and PITBULLS can and are outstanding dogs too.   Shocked)

Here are a couple of links to tell you about the movie and where you can see some pictures of this amazing dog.
