1  BPO General Forum / General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Some people are so rude
« on: August 29, 2005, 01:27:59 AM »

I'm dreading the day that we get a Petsmart if all people are that ignorant, lol.
I don't know why, but I really get irked when people call Kallie a "husky." There's always someone going "Oh, she's SUCH a beautiful husky!"
I always have to explain that she's not a "husky" (I always wonder which kind of husky they are referring to), and that she's an Inuit dog/Malamute mix.

I also get the "wolf" one all of the time. One tourist kept swearing that Sher was a wolf. Oh yeah, he's a blond, floppy-eared wolf all right (sarcasm).
I also get people telling me that Ty is all sorts of different kinds of wolves (from Timber wolf to Red wolf). I try to explain that racers almost never breed wolves into their lines because they're too unpredictable, but "they must have bred one in anyways because he's 100% wolf."

Once we were taking Jacques in for a checkup at a new vet. The vet complimented me on how "beautiful your little poodle is."
I stared at the vet for a moment and said, "he's a Bichon."
Needless to say, we didn't go back.

Here are the only ones I can find. Sorry, no Jacques close-ups yet.

The first dog is Kallie. The second is Sherwen, and the third is Tyrone.

3  BPO General Forum / General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: How Gay Is Your Pet?
« on: August 28, 2005, 03:05:16 AM »

Kallie is 43% gay
Sherwen is 36% gay
Tyrone is 33% gay
Jacques is 53% gay

But all three are 100% happy, lol.  Grin

I'm a fan of Second Chance League:

They rescue sled dogs in Fairbanks. I'm going to look into adopting a dog from them around September probably.

« on: August 22, 2005, 02:58:29 AM »

Kallie's paw is larger that Tinkerbell...
I think that 3 pounds is tiny considering that I've been raised around 60-70 pound sled dogs. Jacques was sort of like a mutant rat dog to me when I got him, lol. I couldn't imagine that a dog could only be 10 pounds  Grin.
My guys are going to stay my guys until they pass on, I die, or unless I cannot keep them without being able to give them the basics.

Awww, she's a cute puppy! It's amazing how some dog's coloration changes. Kal had a white spot in the middle of her back that disappeared.

When Dad and I hiked up to Kennecott, we took Sherwen. Dad didn't want to hike all the way down, so we decided to take the bus back to McCarthy. I didn't know if they'd let dogs on, but they said that Sher would be allowed if we bought him a ticket (which was only $1 because he was under 10, lol).

As for someone mentioning "family jewls"  I have to laugh histerically.  Whenever a guy visitors comes to our house we have to inform them to protect themselves.  I think it's Koby's way of greeting, but that's an awfully painful greeting if you ask me!  He's at perfect hieght for that!  Just walks right up to them head down and BAM!  And he's got the Dane Smart Bump too he likes to head butt people with that!  OUCH!  Needless to say we don't have many visitors! lol

Andi

I burst into tears from laughing when I got to this, lol. For some reason I laugh when people, including myself, get hurt, lol.

« on: August 19, 2005, 03:19:23 AM »

Aww, Mr. Grey looks comfortable in his bed  Grin.
The big dogs have dog houses with cedar chips in them. When I let them inside occasionally, they usually sleep on my bed, a rug, or a bean bag.
Jacques is the spoiled guy. He has a $12 Wal-Mart chaise lounge and a $10 normal dog bed, lol. He mostly sleeps on my bed though. I have a L shaped pillow that I like to tilt so that it looks like an upside down V. Jacques and I fight over who gets to sleep in the center of it, lol. Jacques usually wins  Wink.

Oh boy, I have a lot, lol.
Kallie has twisted my ankle by pulling me over on a patch of ice I didn't see. Tyrone did the same thing, but he twisted the leash around me and spun me around before I landed, lol.
Sherwen kinda did what Sanity did in the first post. He likes to lift up his paw, and when I reached down to pet him, his paw hit my arm and drew blood. Luckily it was a smaller cut, but it scarred (sort of). It happened earlier this summer, and the scar has been getting smaller and smaller.
The worst had to be when the team swerved once and smacked me into a tree. I cracked a rib a bruised a few.
I've also had the usual, large dogs sitting on feet (painfully, lol), getting slugged in the jaw by a paw, getting knocked into hard surfaces by a happy dog, etc. It's actually kinda funny after it happens, lol.

I love the Chinese Crested

They're pretty cute when they're younger, but do they all get as ugly as that one that won the Ugliest Dog contest? That one is downright scary, lol.

« on: August 19, 2005, 02:49:02 AM »

Aww, poor girl. She doesn't look happy at all. I'm kinda surprised that she doesn't look groggy after getting spayed. My Jacques was like this for the first two days after he got neutered.

15  BPO General Forum / General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Is this normal?
« on: August 19, 2005, 02:45:02 AM »

1st pic, she is beggin my son to take it off of her..lol
2nd pic she is playin the "pitty me please im gunna cry" card..
and this pic she is wondering why she has a lamp shade on.

oh she busted off all the little prong things that go in the e-collar so we had to invent a new thing..we had to tape it and tie it to her collar cause her butt found out how to get it off and then tried to chew it up before we put it back on her..lol of course i got to her before that happend. thats why this collar looks so "Ghetto"LOL

ANGEL

Lol, she sure doesn't look too happy with it on. Jacques is now collar-free (I don't know if he's happy or sad, lol), but he still has the bootie to keep him from chewing off his bandages. He got some habit after he got neutered of chewing up his foot until it was bleeding. I had to trim back the hair and bandage it up.
