Our Josh loves to play "soccer".  I (or my son if he's home) play with our feet, Josh plays with his nose.  We have a big, hard plastic ball about the size of a basketball.  I give it a kick and Josh will chase it across the yard and push it back with his nose.  Sometimes when I go to kick it again he will nose it out of my way so that I miss it and he sits there and grins at me.  He loves to do this and we usually end up kicking or nosing the ball all over the yard.

Our Josh had a staph infection a while ago that apparently was caused by the thickest part of his fur(the white fur on his upper back)  not getting completely dry after a bath.  The vet said that that provides a perfect breeding ground for the staph bacteria.  The infection came on overnight...  very fast moving.

The spot was so uncomfortable that the vet had to sedate him so he could shave off the fur (the skin looked awful) and put the anti-bacterial cream on it.  He also had to take amoxycillan antibiotics for 10 days.

All in all a $250.00 experience.    But, Josh is now completely healed and we make sure he is completely dry after grooming or getting caught in the rain.

Our Josh snores like a buzzsaw...  This is typical of softmouth dogs.  That's why Josh does not sleep in our bedroom   ;D

The dogs don't seem to take size into consideration when they choose to be friends.  My St. Bernard's best dog-friend is the Cairn Terrier next door.  The problem is when they play.  Josh is so much bigger than Scruffy that a playful paw swat can send Scruffy rolling across the yard.   So some care must be taken that the big dog doesn't accidentally hurt the little dog..

I've been around Saints for a long time.    In college my fraternity had a Saint mascot (who was expert at begging for pizza).  .  We had a Saint when we were married and we dearly loved him.  He would lay down and our little son would use him as a pillow for a nap.  I guess having a Saint is just second nature for us..
