I've been a member of this board since 2005 and this is the one of the only forums I have ever participated in, or ever even look at.  The reason for this is that BPO truly is a special place, and it is the members that make it so.  I know that many feel betrayed by this sudden change but I do hope to continue to see the familiar names and "faces" of the people and dogs who have made this such a great place.

I am wondering if you all let your dogs off leash for swimming.  We took Sophie and crew to the beach and I let them off leash.  Sophie ran into the water and I was really afraid that she was going to swim away or get caught in the current...Am I being over protective?  She just doesn't recall well and doesn't listen so I am afraid if she got going, she'd just keep going and not come back!  Also, she took off over the seaweed covered rocks and I was afraid she'd break a leg- why doesn't she have any common sense!
Anyway, here are some pix of the crew.

I am in the Portland area and the goats are up midcoast.  If you know anyone looking for goats, I am definitely willing to travel to find them the perfect home!

Too funny that you guys mentioned the house being clean!  A friend was over the other day and she kept looking around saying "it's just so CLEAN for having a kid, let alone all the animals."  I vacuum everyday and sweep and clean a LOT- I am kind of OCD about it. Leo has picked up on it and now he points and gets upset if there's dirt or fur on the floor- cute at our house, not so funny at someone else's!

Here are some recent pix of the crew and why no one likes to come over to our house Smiley  Actually, now that we're not living in the middle of no where, we have had a lot of people coming over and Sophie can be a little more affectionate than people expect.  My dad was visiting and ended up with quite the lapdog (see pic below).  As you can see, Sophie has grown up a LOT!  And yes, that is my son in a dog crate.  Leo loves to hang out in the crate and also licks people-hmmm, maybe we need to socialize him with humans!

Hi Everyone,
Well, I have some sad news- I have to re-home Jasper and Ferdinand, my 3 y/o Nigerian Dwarf goats.  We were planning to move back to our other house this spring but the housing market is so bad, we can't sell the house we're in now.  As we are in the city, the ordinance people will not allow me to bring the goats here.  The goats were boarded over the winter but I am now commuting 2 hours a day to feed and water them...  I feel so awful but it's not fair for them to be alone all the time.  I just feel so guilty and never thought I would have to re-home an animal, but can't find a way to make this work.
If anyone is in Maine or knows of anyone in Maine who might be interested in giving these guys a great home, please PM me.  I am so worried about finding good people to take them and I am not sure how to find the right family-any advice on that front would also be appreciated.  Thank you.

Don't mean to steal your thread but wanted to thank you for posting and everyone who replied for the advice.  I had the same issue with Sophie's prong and will definitely be removing a link and using it higher up.  I didn't realize it was supposed to be so high up and hopefully this will help with her pulling too!

I had the same issue with Binky and Sophie.  I just let things run their course and by the end of class, people were in love with them.   Binky has grown into a well trained rep of big dogs- calm, gentle, etc.  On the other hand, Sophie is wild, so while she is gentle, she scares people.  Definitely keep going to class so you won't end up with a crazy, leaping giant dog (not that it helped with Sophie Wink ) I would try to find a class that offers off leash time though- it really helped Binky and Sophie to learn that they are bigger and need to play a bit more gently.  Good luck.
