got to LOVE my bubble boy.  never a dull moment in his life!

I am more paranoid and check his pee (I do watch it coming out) and his poo very diligently to make sure he is ok.

hahaha! i was on the phone with my grandma yesterday when fumble went out and i told her... "what 25 year old do you know that checks their dogs poops? Like stand there and look from every angle!" lol!!  the things we do for our bigpaws! but those faces are so worth it!  Poor BEAR! UTI's are NO fun!  Glad to hear he's feeling better!

Newfoundland Discussions / well... bubble boy fumble has risen again!

Hey all... what a weekend!  First, i finally got a hold of fumble's nutritionist!  Phew!  That took forever!  We are going to try some new things now to see if we can't get him on a diet that doens't upset his little tummy.

But!  Yesterday afternoon i noticed there was a little red in his stool.  Well he pooped again 20 minutes after the first time and there was drippy red.  i didn't know what to think, but it could have been strawberries that he ate that morning. although, i think i knew it wasn't likely to be true! because they don't digest like that! and well... it's fumble.  So last night I waited until he went again, just to be sure.  It was POURING AND THUNDERING! for like 5 hours straight here.  I had to try to get him to go out because he doesn't like to poop when its raining out.  But after standing outside like a drown rat for 20 minutes he finally started circling.  AND.... drumroll... the blood was still there.  I ran back inot the house got a bag to get the poop and called the ER Vet.  We went over to the vet, all the while trying to get him into my jeep during a lightening storm!  he didn't seem to notice anything was wrong though.  so it was weird.  So the vet tested him for dehydration and what not.  Took blood sample and checked out the stool.  After 2 1/2 hours they sent us on our way with an antibiotic.  but now i have to watch for "shooting blood" coming out of his bum.  If that happens then he'll have to go and get hospitalized and Ived.  So who knows...

got to LOVE my bubble boy.  never a dull moment in his life!

Could you work anything out with the vet's office manager?  sometimes you can have a payment plan.  Maybe if you can't get them to do something, you should shop around for another vet.  You could always try the vet schools too.  Here in MA i think Tufts Vet School helps out with discounted to have the students learn during the procedure.  That was one option i was thinking about when Fumble had his knee done.  Also 5000!  That's high!  Fumble's was 4000.  Still high, i know, but Wow!  I do agree that you want to get it done ASAP.  compensation with the hips and other knee could cause those to go with too much stress.

Good luck!

Clifford's parents... it's so funny how each newfie looks so differently!  I actually just got one picture from one of fumble's siblings from a birthday email i sent out, and she is a female.. she looks just as big, and beautiful... however even though they're from the same litter there it the slightest difference! so funny how they all turn out differently!!  lol!!  I'm sure Clifford will be just a big goofy newfie by the time he turns 3!!

Newfoundland Pictures / Fumble's 3 TODAY!
« on: July 20, 2008, 04:37:36 pm »
Hey everyone! Fumble is 3 today!  I can't believe the time hast just flown right by.  I feel like just yesterday he was this little fluff ball.  well actually he still is my little fluff ball.  He still doesn't seem that big to me, but everyone says he is, so i'll believe them!  lol!

Fumble had a great birthday!  For the last 3 days he's had, soft serve, a blue whale cookie, doggie canolli, frozen yogurt, and a birthday cake!  Phew!

I got him a bunch of new toys, but the best one has to be the ice block thingie i got him.  You pitch up this plate to be off the ground and then put the block of ice in the tray.  Oh it was great!  I put some yogurt, blueberries, and cookies in the water and then froze it.  it was greaT!  He aboslutely lOVED IT!!

I'll post some pictures in the next post for everyone to see.. by far my favorite pictures are the ones of him with the yogurt container!! lol!  and the tongue with the ice block!!

awww... What great parents!!!  How rewarding it must have been to rescue such an adorable little guy!!! :)

I wouldnt worry about the size thing, he's got plenty of time to grow!! probably another 2 1/2 years!!  one cheat i alwyas used was fumble's paws... as long as they looked too big for his body i knew he was still growing!

Good to see you guys.  Mr. Fumble looks like he's having a great summer.  Are there any beaches on Cape Cod that are dog friendly?  ???  Geez, beaches & dogs go together like ice cream & cake!   ;D

BTW, are Fumble & Bear really related?  If so, how cool is that?

I don't think Eiren answered the second half about the Beaches. During tourist season (Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends) I believe Eiren has said only the Offroad Beach is open to dogs, the rest of the year just about anywhere goes. Search the Newf Pics or Meet N Greet forums for Cape or Cape Cod and you should get a bunch of hits from our visits with Eiren, Stacey, and Fumble.

I hope Stacey gets the chance to meet Bear, Jamie, and Micheal, that would be awesome.

I did miss out on the other half of the question.  i think i'ts because i'm so frustrated with the town!  I mean i'm the one who pays the taxes!  They should allow only residents to have a special dog tag to be on the beach!  I mean, i actually clean up after my dog.  and that's the whole reason why.  is becuase tourists don't clean up after their dogs.  You should see me in season, i'll chase after people wtih fumble running (more like lalligagging) behind me with doggie bags to have them clean up their dogs messes.  So horrible!!  Ruining it for everyone else! :(

The fine went up to $200!!! for the getting caught on the beach.  I unforutnately don't have 200 bucks to be testing the waters.  Last year it was $50.  And i did have one day where i said, "screw the 50 bucks, i want him to go swimming"  We didn't get caught, but i dont' want to go down that road!  I should take him over to Chapin beach the Offroading beach on the bay side.  Maybe i'll do that on my week off.  The weekends is too hard because the parking lot is soo small over there!  It's a plan, i'll do that on my week off in August!!  :)  lol!!

Hey GoldenPyrs,

No fumble and bear aren't related... bear's a little older.  But man they do look alike?  I would LOVE for them to meet someday!  I can only imagine the two goof balls together!  lol!!

They aren't directly realted but if I remember correctly, Fumble does have a partial link from Brear's breeder in Fumble's line which does make them family somewhat.

I remember that!  Yes he does have Bear's breed line in him somewhere.. i think it was his great grandparent on kati's side (his mom).  I think.  I've got all the papers in my room somewhere going back 6 generations.  So i'm sure Fumble is related to a few of you all out there!  It is so neat to see how similar they are in appearancE!!

What cute pictures!!!  Clifford knew you were joking!!  He would definately be right there if he sensed any danger.  That's how fumble was with me when i took him swimming.  no interest in me, just wanted to walk around in the ocean.  I would LOVE to see fumble gung ho swimming though.  I've only ever seen him go as far as he can touch.  I'm going to have to find someone with a pool to let me test that out!
