Treatment & Preventative Meds / Re: benedryl question
« on: August 31, 2006, 06:01:33 am »
Just take a benedryl and cut it in half....  One benedryl is 25mg so if you cut it in half you will be fine.

As the other person said... 1mg per lb

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Frankie and the dogs LOL
« on: August 23, 2006, 12:09:53 am »
The dogs have a small amount of time with the baby and after a few weeks I now leave them out of their crates and non leashed they are fully settled into the new life with a newborn.  I still never leave a baby unattened with the dogs or anything like that but I do let them investigate one at a time.  The only reason I dont do both at the same time is because sometimes play is instigated and well a accidental paw on the baby wouldnt be good.  Chara has become the guard of the baby and if you look at him the wrong way she reminds you on the proper way... zero takes the stairs at night because the baby is right above him and never once moved where as usually he did...

Neapolitan Mastiff Discussions & Pictures / Re: Neo exercise
« on: August 16, 2006, 06:02:11 am »
What kind of exercise is she getting besides running in the yard?  SHe is old enough that you can take her for walks... I never limited my dogs erercise, when they were tired, i stopped but if they wanted to run, play, walk, jump, i let them... as long as it is not forced, it is fine

Thanks everyone!  My husband is literally doing everything and I cant get over how incredible and wonderful he is...  I love him more and more everyday!

In regards to baby, that is all I am doing is just taking care of him.  When I am not sleeping I am with my dogs just hanging out... They are very happy to be in the ac with the heat wave we are having LOL

Overall he is a good eater and sleeper but I know to take nothing for granted because they change so much so fast LOL

Frankie decided to make a dramatic enterance via emergency c-section.  All is well and he came in weighing 8lb 8oz and 21.5" long.  He is doing very well and overall a good baby with a huge appetite.  The dogs are quite in love with their new pack member as well and the introduction went way better than i thought it would... very smoothly

I feed raw... my CO was weaned on to it and my male I switched when I got him at 9.5 wks and was fully on raw by 12 wks.

I just do meat, bones, organs and tripe...  I do give them other things from time to time just because they like it LOL but they dont need it.

It requires them to actually think about it to a certain exttent... if you give bones with nook and crannies they have to get the meat out of there too LOL

But the stool size alone along with consistency of it, is much easier than kibble picking up LOL

Discussions & Information on Grooming / Re: Double coats and shaving
« on: July 15, 2006, 06:13:48 am »
Oh... I would never shave my two...  Zero is a desert dog and well he is thick coated... it blows in the summer but he is still thick coated... and chara is beyond thick coated... the fur is there for a reason IMO.. panting is a sign that your dog is regulating his body temperature... it is when he is non responsive, distressed and looks lethargic that over heating is an issue...

Chara went with me to the lake yesterday and as you can see had a grand ole time

I too use blocky dog collars BDgrip.... I like the fact I have a handle to grab, the width (2") because it gives me something to grab with all their fur.. nevermind the quality of the collars
