I taught mine the "leave it" command and the "spit it out" command.  One was before the cat goes in the mouth and the other obviously after the cat is in the mouth.  Of course my cats also have claws so that helps.  But I have a water gun and that has better range and accuracy over the squirt bottle.   So if you are in the kitchen and the dog has the cat in the living room you can do a sneak attack.  ;D  Hope that helps.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: suggestions wanted
« on: December 18, 2005, 09:35:51 pm »
Thanks for all the suggestions.  I have been looking at Petfinder and the shelter lists.  I had pretty much figured that I would go the shelter route but I wanted ideas of mixes to look for.  Who knows I might even run across a pure bred but it's not a criteria.  I am mainly looking for something that can withstand the Malinois body checks.  I attached some pics of Kaila from yesterday.  The second one is my favorite because it shows her true personality.

Hey Everyone,

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a playmate for Kaila and Cinder.  My only problem is that I can't seem to make a decision on breed or breed mix that I actually am looking for.  So I decided to open the floor up for suggestions.  Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.  My only requirements are that the dog be at least 60 lbs full grown and have short hair.  I guess I should add that Michael is hoping for something a little less "enthusiastic" as the girls.  This is all in the very beginning stages.   Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas.

Kat

P.S.
I just had to add that Kaila turned a year old yesterday.  I will try and add some new pics of the girls tonight.  Now I have to get back to work.

I don't know how dressy you really want but I like to shop at Wilson Leather.  They have an online store also.  They have some coats that have a nice lining in them.

Apparently I have two addictions now.  Petfinder and BPO.  So here is my weakness at least for tonight.  Tomorrow or in a couple of minutes there will be more.

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Re: Spaying Advice?
« on: December 09, 2005, 09:57:55 pm »
I just had Kaila and Cinder both spayed last week.  Kaila is 11 months and Cinder is 20 months.  Michael wanted to wait until Cinder went through her first heat which was okay since it snuck up on us.  I had Kaila knocked down to have her hips x-rayed because she was limping constantly so it really seemed like the perfect time to get her spayed on one visit.  If I did it over again or with another female I would spay before the first heat cycle but the age doesn't really matter to me.  Just my own personal preference.

For the humping issue: Cinder tried humping Kaila a couple of times before she was spayed but she hasn't tried again since the surgery.  I also have a female Boston Terrier that humps.  She usually humps the large squeaky toys.  I am not sure what the toys have done to deserve the treatment.  But then again she also marks the yard like a little male.  She hikes her leg and everything.  I have never seen a female hike her leg and mark until Marty.  I think she may be a male dog stuck in a female's body.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that your tervs are gorgeous.  I have looked at them and thought maybe next time around.  Right now I have two Malinois females named Kaila and Cinder.

I am so sorry.  I didn't mean to start anything.  I had never heard of anyone saving and adopting a turkey and it made me laugh.  I personally am not a fan of PETA.  I am sure that there are some level headed individuals in that group but I haven't had that experience with PETA.

Hey everyone,

I heard about this on the radio while at work this morning.  I had never heard of this before but I thought I would pass along the website.  The website is www.farmsanctu ary.com.  I will admit that the only part I really looked at was the adopting a turkey part of the website.  Mainly because that was what they were talking about on the radio.

Introduce Yourself to the Forum / Re: Hi, from Cinder, Kaila, and Kat

Thanks, Shellie.  I was worried that Cinder would never grow into her ears or her tail for that matter.  I think she finally grew into her ears but her tail still looks out of proportion.  I like Hugo alot.  I looked at Giant Schnauzers before we got Cinder but I didn't think I was up to the task of grooming.  Maybe one day I'll get over my irrational fear of giving my dog a bad haircut.

I attached a couple of baby pics of Kaila and Cinder.  Cinder is 16 weeks old and that is the first day we got her and Kaila is 6 weeks old.  Thanks so much for making us feel welcome.  I think all of your dogs are beautiful.  I hope you like the pics.

Hi Everybody,

My name is Kat and I think I just actually joined.  I am extremely technilogicall y challenged and my computer and I were having a fight over me trying to register.  Anyway, now that you know I am insane and talk to my computer, I can introduce my dogs.  I have 2 belgian malinois girls.  Cinder is 20 months and Kaila is 11 months.  I have been lurking around checking things out for awhile and I decided to join.  Everybody seems really nice and friendly.  Just wanted to say hi and please forgive me if I do something wrong.  I have never been in a forum like this so I am apologizing now.
