Thank you both for your replies.  I'm just curious, and not trying to insite panic.  I figured that short of calling my vet on a weekend, I could ask you guys cause you'd probably know something.  I read both articles, and the snopes disclaimer page.  Not that I don't believe but I'm always cautious when it comes to health issues- both human and pet.  Thanks again.   :)

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Swiffer mop/Fabreeze users

Okay, I hope I don't get sued for this...my friend told me last night, that her mom said not to use swiffer mops or fabreeze because they leave a "antifreeze like" film on the floor.  I know that air fresheners like fabreeze and the spray kind work because they are heavier than the "stinky air" and drag it down to the ground where we can't smell it.  But who is lurking on the floor?  Our kiddos, both fur lined and skin lined.  So my question is, has anyone heard that either of these products could potentially be toxic?  The swiffer is supposed to be toxic because you mop your floor with it, and then they lick the floor occasionally to clean up treats or spills we make.  Then something in it slowly poisions our pets, and can cause liver damage, much like antifreeze would.  Is this true?  I've used fabreeze for two to three years now, and have used the mop thing for about six months.  Any info you have with a credible source for me to check out would be awesome.

Along the same lines....Does everyone feed their Danes off the ground?  I used to have 4 feed dishes lined up, two for water and two on the ends for food.  Now its four for food and their own pond with fountain for water.  They drank the water so fast, and wanted to IGNORE the automatic waterer.  It gets so hot here that I feared they would get dehydrated if they drank it all.  Hence the need for their own pond!  Anyhow, their dishes are almost 2 feet off the ground so they are at chest level.  Everyone else does this right?

My two get the 24 hour treatment.  Just like Patrick's babies...they have had no medical problems, weight problems, or food aggression problems (and I do check them several times a day and monitor their intake).  However, it wasn't so when Bella or Boomer first came home.  I was cooking their meals right on schedule.  I think I stopped that when they were willing and able to eat kibble on their own without drowning it in broth (around 4 or 5 months).  They enjoy their treats on a daily basis.  They also enjoy their race track in the back yard, and the dog park every Sunday.  My friend has two Danes on the same 24 hour plan, and she's never had any problems either.

Ruger, like the gun.  I don't know if I spelled it right, but it's tough sounding!

Svnt4God...The place you rescued her from is in CA right?  Um, I think you adopted the puppy that I wanted!...well, when she was up for adoption the first time!!!  I'm glad she found a home with you, but seeing her (and I'm sure it's her) is why I fell in love with Blue Danes.  I loved Danes forever, but until I saw her I never knew Blue Danes existed!  Congratulation s!

Here's a couple more from last week during treat time.  In the third one, she is refereeing my husband and son playing Halo2 on the "tiny" tv.  Our big tv was being repaired :(

Bella Roo does the same thing!  She'll come into the computer room and it doesn't matter if I've been in here 5 seconds or 5 hours!  She heads right for my elbow, gives it a heave up, and she's in the pettin zone!  She knows that I'm a sucker for paying every minute of attention I have to her, Boomer and our kitty Fatty Fat Cat.  Boomer knows that when I head for the office it's time to warm mommas toes.  He comes in, ducks under the table (instead of a puter desk), and curls up at my feet.  He loves just being near me!

I've spent a few hours looking at all these way cool posts on BPO.  I've finally figured this site out (and I thought I was technically savvy!).

I guess I'm introducing my baby....Bella Roo.  Only she isn't a baby anymore, she's 2 now.  I think she's the biggest female I've ever seen.
