As has been said, cuddliness is a personality trait.

The first Newf we had, Molly, was ALWAYS aloof, and at over 10, she still is. She likes affection, but only when she wants it! The other three are much more cuddly, and often demand a fuss, even when we don't want to give them one!

If you want a dog on the settee or bed then I wouldn't go for a Newf... Unless you want to sleep or sit on the floor! They take uo alot of room!!!

Another thing I will say is, mine are not happy in our livingroom as they get too warm. Our dinning room has floor tiles and no heating, so they are in there or on our patio most of the time. If they wanted to be in the livingroom with us, they would want the patio doors open, which would mean that I would freeze to death!!

I also have 2 English Cocker Spaniels, they are both cuddly, although one is more cuddly than the other. Now they are the size of dog you can cope with on the settee or bed!

Hi Sue,

Non of my Newfs are allowed upstairs at any age! I obviously didn't let them up when they were babies because of their joints, but then when they are older they just don't know what to do with stairs if they weren't allowed up when they were small.

On the odd ocassion when one of mine has vanished upstairs they are so clumsy when they are coming down again that I think they are going to fall and break something... All accept Molly that is, but then our Moll has always been the odd one out!

Good luck with the new pup ;D

Awwww congratulation s on the safe arrival of a beautiful baby ;D

It was my daughter's 13th birthday on 26th November, she arrived early too, at 34 weeks, by emmergency C section.... I had already been in labour fot two weeks then!!

When both of my girls were born I had a GSD, who everyone told me would be so jealous and attack the baby, so I had to get rid of her! No way! She adored both of the girls, and was a wonderful protector of them when we went out anywhere ;D

You will be counting down the hours to the 25th!!! My daughter is 13 on 26th, and she has just had her surprise birthday present... A 10 week old English Cocker Spaniel pup ;D

Having three Newfs who destroy every toy I buy them, I shall have to have a look at that site, and hope they ship to the UK!!!

Food Discussion & Information / Re: Raw diet??
« on: November 09, 2006, 05:37:35 am »
I have to admit I feed my lot a complete diet, but I add cooked chicken, mince, cheese, tuna, sardines or scrambled egg to it! And any of our left overs.

I don't like the idea of feeding raw meat to mine, but that is mainly because I have one who has a very sensative stomach! And I also worry that I wouldn't be giving them all the vitamins and minerals they need.

I am happy with the way mine are fed, and Molly is over 10 years old and still looks and acts like a 2 year old, so I must be doing something right mustn't I?!!! ;)
