16  Great Pyrenees / Great Pyrenees Discussions / Is This Normal?? « on: July 15, 2007, 05:54:58 AM » Well the more I get to see of Otis the more like a cat he seems.  He has now taken to catching birds and eating them  .  At first we just thought he was taking them off the cats after they caught them.  We would take them off him and dispose of them and then an hour later he would have another one  .  Well DH was out this morning feeding horses and Otis barrels by him jumps in the bushes and comes out with a bird    After seeing that the light came on, he was getting his own birds.  Seems he is quite the big hunter  . So is this normal for a pyr (little on any dog)??  Our is my poor boy completely species confused and really thinks he is a cat

17  Great Pyrenees / Great Pyrenees Discussions / Otis Pictures « on: July 03, 2007, 04:49:53 AM » Well I haven't posted for awhile  but I do check in lots to see what you all are up too  Otis is 7 months old now and just a terror!!  Love him to death, but the boy just DOES NOT listen!!!.  And dig and chew.  OMG!!!!  He is driving me nuts!!! Anyway, enough whining  here are the lastest pictures of my boy  .

MAKE ME!! « on: June 20, 2007, 05:08:51 AM » Oh yes, I have that problem with Otis who is now 7 months old, but it is for everything!!!  As soon as you touch his collar he is on the ground trying to get your hand.  He has actually been alittle agressive with it which has not been plesent. As for the stepping on your shoes, Otis does that all the time, but he will also tackle you. He gets behind you and wraps his front leg around you and your down.  He is really bad at that with the kids.  Haven't been able to work through those things and truly hoping they are just the defiant stage. so yup, I am in the same boat as you

20  BPO Food Forum / Food Discussion & Information / Re: Puppy Food for Senior « on: April 12, 2007, 06:33:40 PM » Unfortunately I have never seen or heard of Canidae .  I live in a small town and choices are limited.  You can get the regular supermarket choices or our feed store has just afew choices.  I was feeding Nutro Natural Choices which they loved, but then with the pet food scare and some other problems the feed store had with dealing with that company they pulled that brand.  I am currently trying them on Techni-Cal a Canadian brand; failing that is it either Science Diet, Skoi (sp?), acouple of real cheap brands and some totally "green" mega overprices choices.  . Do you thing that the puppy food would harm my older dog??  I would only be feeding it for another 6 months anyway.  It has Glusomide in it too which is something we current supplement our old guy with.

21  BPO Food Forum / Food Discussion & Information / Puppy Food for Senior « on: April 12, 2007, 02:40:36 PM » Hi All:  I have a question.  Would there be any downside to feeding a senior (9yr) Saint large breed puppy food?  The reason I ask is that we have a 5mth old Pyr and no matter what food I buy they both only eat the puppy food.  They will eat the senior only when I am out of puppy food. Soam thinking of just feeding the large breed puupy food to both of them.  What do you think?? Oh and also before you say anything, there in no chance of me seperating them at dinner time.

23  Saint Bernards / Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: Saints and cats? « on: March 28, 2007, 07:04:08 PM » We have no trouble with our Saint and our cats.  He will chase a stray cat off the property but won't hurt it.  He is very tolerant of our 5 cats, thou every time one of the cats decides that Slugger looks like a great play to rub against he looks at us the those "Why me" eyes  .  When we have introduced a new cat to the household it has always been in the house and he just seems to realize that the inside ones are family and leaves them alone.  Hope you have good luck with your intergration.

25  Great Pyrenees / Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: I'm Not THAT Dirty!!!!! « on: March 28, 2007, 06:45:24 PM » The great thing that I will say about Otis is that no matter how dirty he gets (and this is definately the dirtiest so far  , once he drys off the grime just falls off  .  He is now back to his off white colour with no help from me  .  I have come to the conclusion that he will never be white again so i can live with off white, heck he is having so much fun and bringing so much joy how can you get mad about some dirt  LOL

28  BPO Training Forum / Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Re: What if he's marking? « on: March 22, 2007, 03:56:20 PM » Sounds just like my Otis.  The boy is constantly peeing outside and then comes in and pees as well  .  I hear ya cause I am at my wits end on this too.  Our Saint was just a breeze to house train but Otis is just too much.  The really funny thing on all this is that he is locked in our ensuite at night and he has no accidents at all.  I take him out to pee during the night and he is great, he pees then comes straight back in and goes to bed, but as to the rest of the house.....

He keeps Peeing In The House « on: March 22, 2007, 03:27:21 PM » Hey guys!!!  Haven't been around much but have been popping in to read now and then  .  We have had Otis now for a month and he is just the biggest and cutest goof around.  Man I love that pup  .  Unfortunately after our great first week the only thing he has learned is to sit and the little bugger keeps peeing in the house!!!!  I need help and advice big time  .  I've watched him, timed him, put him out, brought him in, scolded him, scolded the mess, yelled at him, talked nice to him, rubbed his nose in it and he keeps peeing.  Please help!!!!  cause everything I have tried just isn't working
