That is too funny and too true :)

I think one of the most important things NOT to do is soothe Angus when he is scared of something because he interprets it as praise, so you might as well just be telling him that is ok for him to behave in that manner.
My Dobie Ace has fear aggression I have to deal with it EVERYDAY, he is 5 yrs/old now and it has gotten better but it is definitely still there.  I think the best thing to do is to start off small like maybe having just one thing that he is scared of at a time and work with him on that instead of a whole bunch of things at once.  The problem is that if he is bombarded with too many things that is scared of all at once it is just too overwhelming for him to deal with it.  This matter needs to be addressed asap or else he will turn to full out biting to deal with his stresses if he gets pushed to the limit.

This shouldn't be a problem for you Nicki...lol... . to stand really firm if someone wants to pet him and you tell them not to, they should respect that or get bitten, plain and simple.  Ace has some genetic behavioural issues but I have learnt how to deal with them and it has come down to the fact that it is up to ME if he bites someone or not,  I now know exactly how to prevent it by reading Ace's body language. I've done a great deal of reasearch and I have taken Ace to a behaviourist to deal with his problems.

I hope this helps and good luck with Angus :)

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / After the neuter

Little tekke is feeling great today, so great that he wants to play with Sasha.  Should I just let him play or should I try to keep him quiet, he is not in any pain.

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: pooping, farting, and wangus

You guys are probably all going to hate me but my dogs hardly ever fart.  Ace farts sometimes but they are the loud non-smelly ones, the funny thing is that he sometimes lets one out just as his butt is about to hit the floor when he sits.

Our farm god is a totally different story, I think he can clear a room faster then anything.  He stinks to the high heavens :)  But you gotta love'em.

My little tekke got neutered today, hurray :)  He is home now feeling a little tired.  The vet discovered that he has the beginning stages of a skin infection so I have him on antibiotics for the next 2 weeks.

Just a note hear for any boxer owners or boxer cross owners... There is an anesthetic called Acepromazine that is commonly used by vets but it is very dangerous to boxers heres an article on it http://www.cinemaboxers.com/acepromazine.htm  I printed the sheet and took it with me today and I am glad I did because I don't think he knew that it was bad for boxers and it is the anesthetic that they use so I had him use a different one.

I say go for it, everyone should have more than one dog....lol.  I went from one dog to 3 dogs in less than 2 months and it was the best thing I ever could have done.  Now I don't feel bad if something comes up and I can't give them much attention, they have each other.  I have a sophisticated 5 1/2 yr.old doberman...lol, a 1yr.old dobie mix and a 5 month old Boston terrier/valleybulldog, the 2 youngest keep each other busy ALL THE TIME.... its wonderful.

Believe it or not 3 dogs is WAY easier than one dog.

When I train horses that are frightened of different things I have sessions with them where I expose them to all different kinds of things like paper and plastic bag,s big tarps that they must walk over and many other things, we call it desensitizing.  Maybe it would work for you and your dog :)
