i looked at magnums, they are sharp looking but i didnt like the fact that they were an average of 19mpg. thats just tooooo low for me for a vehicle. im looking at the older VUEs instead. i dont like the shape of the new ones, but i do like the older ones

hi, sorry to hear about your pup. my pup is just recently recovered from HOD. she had it for 3months, and didnt walk at all for those 3. later twards the end of her disease when she started to feel a little better and would move on her own, i held her in a kiddie pool and let her paddle as much or as little as she wanted. i wouldnt suggest just throwing em in and letting him go at it lol, but then again, if i would have done that with mine she probably would have drowned on me. its good that hes older though, it means theres less of an amount of time for him to have to deal with it. it usually stops around 7 or 8 months old. when it comes to exercise though... no forced exercise is the way to go. meaning, if he gets up and wanders on his own, perfect, but dont try to stand him up or anything like that. does your vet have him on any medications to help with the pain, and did he talk to you about his diet, and what to do with fevers and such?

hi, im sorry about your little guy! i know what youre going through. my pup is finally recovering from HOD. yes, it will cause the legs to swell, in front or in back, or both. Chloes hocks and knees used to get really bad. try wrapping them in cold packs to reduce some of the swelling. it wont take it all away, but it will help. i know how the relapses are... it was like Chloe would relapse EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY, it was tough. the temp is really something thats most important to watch. thats really the part that if a pup dies from HOD, its the usual culprit. along with dehydration. if the temp gets too high (104-106) a cool shower will help. but do call your vet if it gets to 106. they might want you to bring him in then. i hope this doesnt last too long for you! Chloes lasted about 3 months, but shes running and playing and everything now. its tough but hang in there!!!

ah, i am here. my dane had bumps on her belly for a while, they didnt *seem* to bother her, (but she could have been chewing on them or whatever behind my back) they were there for a while, then turned into pustules (basically pimples, i could pop them... and yeah i popped one or two to see what was inside.) and then they got flakey and crusty sooooooooo to the vet. turned out to be Pyoderma. she was on an antibiotic and given a special follecular flushing shampoo. then ta da! in a few days it was gone. just so ya know... pyoderma is the second most common skin disease in dogs. first is a flea reaction. its a bacterial infection caused by Staphylococcus .. basically, its a staph infection. take the poochie to a vet, get it checked out. dont give yourself a headache! lol

my dane has HOD. did you ask your vet about using baby asprin with those medications your pup is already on? i just dont want to see your pup have a problem because of the medications reacting. my pup is on tramadol and rimodyl for hers, it was 3 months that she couldnt walk at all had high fevers, and so on. hers was very serious, the vets told me it was one of the worst cases theyve ever seen. now shes finally almost out of the woods. (age wise) and physically shes almost 100%. she just needs a little more muscle in her backside. shes off of her tramadol now, and going to start getting off of her rimodyl soon, and slowly. im currently talking to a guy who has a 14wk old german shepard that just got HOD. he posted on here, and i e-mailed him. if you ever want to talk about anything, have any questions, or anything, feel free to e-mail me at Almagro at AOL dot COM. i also have some questions for you about it, i would really enjoy talking to you!

im sorry to hear that, i feel so bad. im wondering, do they roll like horses do? i dont know much about deer, but i know that horses, when they roll... they can put a twist in their guts. i had this happen to my uncles horse, Zinger Seelster. he had to be rushed to the emergency vet, and they didnt think they were going to make it in time. when something like that happens, they can die in an hour or sometimes less. he luckily made it and made it through surgery, but im just wondering if this is possible for deer too?
