Bills & Other Legislative Acts / Re: Breed restrictions!!!!!
« on: March 23, 2005, 04:56:55 pm »
I will stick my neck out here
Being a BREEDER LOVER AND  EXHIBITOR of a large breed it concerns me as well
It is because of some  irresponsible peoble we are confronted with this
But I DO AGREE with certain control for breeders and owners
As per expample leave the breeding to  devoted peope with knowledge and
make sure they are controlled
People with pet dogs no matter what breed should be made to castrate or sterilize
And all this mixing dog breeds is wrong.
NO BACK YARD BREEDERS NO SALE OF PETS AT SOPS OR WHOLESALERS
people  with working dogs that kept as pets should be educated that those dogs are working dogs and should be kept busy
Remember having a pet is a  privalidge
(Sorry about miy misspelled words but Ii need a spell check when I post but cant find it on this programme

Hi
I think you will find if the pup was only six weeks old when it came to you it was way to young to be away from it's Mum
Therefore  the toy gives him security
At four months of age it is the time to wean him as he will be in the transition stage between 4-6 months
If not you could end up with a very insecure adult
That is why we have a la here  pups are not to leave  the nest until at least 8 weeks of age

As a child livig in Amsterdam Holland my Mum  and I agreed it was not the place for a big dog so instead I had my contact with dogs and all type of animal by walking other peoples dogs and kids
Working in spare time at the Zoo and animal shelters
Then worked at the Vet as his assistant and studied to become a vet
But that was cut short when I met my Husband we immigrated to Australia
I could not speak English so I was unable to go to Sydney to futher my studies
Mean time I resqued everything I could from Birds to Horses cats and pigs
When our Daughter was a teenager  in 1985 she  finnaly talked us in to persue hers and my passion
A Saint Bernard and we went looking
We started with one  started showing later  breeding and I enjoyed a lot of succes
Sadly our Daughter  passed away in1995 butI managed to keep showing and breeding and evrytime I have new babys or have a succes in the ring I look up and say This is For you Shirl

It can only be good for your dog to have company
Either one would be great
If the Saint is a resque that would be my pick
The only stress would be if she is not sterilised that would have to be advised

I myself had no direct expierience of yound  dogs
But when 2 of my dogs were around the age of 10 and 11
Te heart had a lot of fluid
Heart problems are often genetic if noted in early stage of life
I wonder if the breeder has information regarding your dogs background
