Food Discussion & Information / Re: Raw diets and my pup

I agree, raw is the best way to go. Our vet bills have gone down dramatically since we switched. Sugar always had yeast infections in her ears before I switched. Both of my dogs were about a year old when I learned about and researched a raw diet. So they are never to old to switch.

Nutro may have changed the ingredients in their food. Sometimes that happens, it seems like a minor change and they don't have to mention it on the bag, but it's enough to cause stomach upset.

April, sorry not luck, she would love to take her but I forgot that the shepard she has doesn't like other dogs. She will ask around. I wish I could take her but I'm already maxed out on animals. Thank goodness my cats are all indoor.

Yeah D'Artagnan will eat the funky stuff, he doesn't care, I just don't like him yacking it back up a couple of hours later, YUCK!!! I think part of my problem is that Raw, BARF or Prey style hasn't caught on in the midwest yet so I am in the minority.

We feed raw also, although finding affordable, good quality meat around here is getting very hard to do. Chicken has been our staple, with organs, eggs, fish, but the chicken quarters I've been getting lately seem to be spoiling very quickly when thawed out, like they smell bad as soon as they are thawed. I've been buying meat in the grocery store, where do you get you meat?

Discussions & Information on Grooming / Re: Blowing the coat

I just got a furminator comb and I love if for blowing coat. I thought I had gotten all of the hair with the undercoat rake, but there was a lot more to come out. After I finished with both dogs, they aren't leaving the hair bunnies around the house that we normally have.
