Boston Great Dane
« on: May 24, 2006, 12:39:40 pm »
Hey.  Found this unusual Boston Great Dane on Petfinders -- just in case anyone out there has always dreamed of having a dane with a "mantle."  I didn't know there WAS such a thing.  Is there?

And Foster and Bella are what is called either a broken mantle or mismarked mantle.  You aren't "supposed" to call them Bostons anymore cause the Boston terrier people got twisted over it.

That is too funny!  Every Boston Terrier I've ever known was easily "twisted" over things!

I thought the mantle was longer hair -- like a fringe.  Here's a link to the one I saw on petfinder

Oh I get it -- it's just the photograph they took -- there's a highlight on her head -- never mind.  I get it now.

They DO look like Boston terriers.

I am extremely picky on how a mantle should look LOL Here is my first mantle dane, my first dane, to me he was a a good example of how I like mantle danes. And here is 2 more pictures of a nice marked mantle. In the picture you posted Liz, I dont like that mantle cause the dane doesnt have a nice blaze. Yeah yeah I am just too picky  :-\

And if Grey was black where his merle is, he would be a good example of a mantle also

Your first Dane was simply stunning Blair!

Thanks Jenn. He was our Heart and soul. He was a 100% daddy's boy, Ben loved, actually still loves, that boy. He spoiled him rotten  :)

I just picked him because he is within the AKC standard for mantles.  The white blaze is optional in the standard.

I know it is... like I said I am just really picky when it comes to mantles LOL
