a bird is in my store...what do I do?
« on: June 06, 2006, 04:11:13 pm »
I feel dumb right now for asking this but a bird walked in my store and freaked out and I don't know how to help it leave. It's flown into four windows and is now perched on one of the gallery pieces near the ceiling. I feel so bad for it....it's terrified. Anyone deal with this before? If he/she is within reach is it okay to pick it up and put it outside or should I let it find its own way. I don't want to make things worse. Oh great it just pooped on my floor  :P

It won't hurt the bird if you touch it but I would get some gloves as they can actually bite really hard ! I would get a blanket or towel and throw it over the bird , normally they think they are hidden and "freeze" then grab the bird holding your hands over it's wings so it can't flap as they're impossible to hold when they do that ! I hope this helps ! Let us know how it goes !

Why do you think he broke his neck ? I once had a woodpecker fly into my living room window , I thought he was going to die , he layed on the ground for over an hour with a bit of blood coming from his nose but slowly he got up and eventually flew away !

okay...he's outside under a bush but he's upside down...he'll flip over and fly away right? He's breathing and very alert. Is it okay for him to be on his back like that? Sorry I know cats and dogs pretty well but not birds.

He's on his back ? If he freaks out if you try to approuch him again I'd just leave him , but if he'll let you touch him I'd try to get him on his stomache , if it's possible .
