Grace was scared of other Mastiff pups
« on: July 29, 2006, 08:37:34 am »
I took grace to the vet this morning because she has an inflammed bump on her tummy.  We thought it may have been a spider bite.  Our vet said it's slightly inflammed but it's not toxic (or course keep an eye on it if anything changes) so that's a relif.
So there were two other 5 month old OEM pups in (Max and Sierra) and she was completely scared of them! They are just one month older. Does any one have any socialization tips?  I don't want her to be scared of other big paws. She gets her final shots on this coming wednesday and then she starts her first obedience classes.

I don't think this is anything to worry about.  Puppies have multiple personality disorder.  If Grace isn't generally fearful, this is likely just her being a silly goose.  Tomorrow, she could see those same dogs and be all rambunctious.  Puppy class is great, and so much fun!

I wouldn't worry too much at this age. I think once you start yout classes , it will make a huge difference. Farley sat sidelined for the first 2-3 classes, he was like the lil redheaded boy who got teased. By the end of the class he was in there playing with all the pups.

I feel your pain Farley!!  I was ALWAYS the lil' Redheaded girl who got teased.   :-\

I really wouldn't worry about Grace.  Ranger was very cautious early on about other pups.  Now he's Mr. Friendly and wants to meet EVERY dog.
