Dilated Cardiomyopathy
« on: March 18, 2005, 03:49:08 pm »
Hi!  My nine month old St. (Seamus) was at the vet this weekend and they detected a heart murmur.  The vet didn't seem concerned and said we would check it in three weeks.  However, I've been doing research and have discovered devistating news about heart disease in big dogs.  Has anyone had a big dog with this disease, or does anyone know anything about it?  Is there anything else it could be?  Thanks!

Poor baby! I don't have any experience with that and hope someone can give you some encouraging news. My prayers go out to you and Seamus.
Hugs,

I myself had no direct expierience of yound  dogs
But when 2 of my dogs were around the age of 10 and 11
Te heart had a lot of fluid
Heart problems are often genetic if noted in early stage of life
I wonder if the breeder has information regarding your dogs background
