The house of Floppy is not hoppin' :o(
« on: August 30, 2006, 05:23:18 am »
Our poor Floppy is at the vet clinic right now , last night he and the kids were in the kitchen , he had the zoomies and was running 'round and 'round this chair , decided to jump on it with full steam ahead , flew off the other side and you could tell right away he landed wrong as he just layed there on the floor and wouldn't move  :'( We hoped he had just sprained something but this morning I picked him up and that leg is just hanging there , so *hopefully* they can fix him ? I've never had a bunny who's been hurt before , I'm so scared , there is NO replacing Floppy . We'll never find another bunny like him , he's truly one of a kind . And I feel so aweful for Izabelle with all she's been going thru lately with her seizures , to possibly loose her best friend ?  :-[ I know he's just a rabbit , but he's already a part of our family . Please pray for him today !

Our hearts are breaking right now , Floppy is being put down this afternoon . His leg is broke just under the hip socket and even with surgery , pins , plates and at least $1,200 there's no guarentee he'll even make it thru the anesthesia .  :'(  :'(  :'( I just can't believe this happened . I have to go tell my kids now .

Oh no!!! I'm so sorry!!! I wish there was something you could do...

I know this is a weird question , but has anyone ever heard of a three legged rabbit ? The vet called me and said there is a possibility they could amputate the leg , and that may cost less , but of course there's still the chance of dying during surgery . I have to wait until the other vet gets back in town this afternoon as he's the only who could do the surgery . I'm going to go do a search , just wanted to know if anyone knows if it's even possible ?? It's Floppy's back leg .

I think he may do just fine as a 3 legged bunny. I've seen 3 legged ferrets? Ferrets are smaller than most rabbits and usually make it through the anesthesia...

Unfortunetly it will still cost around $600 to amputate his leg so we've decided to have Floppy put to sleep . Thankyou to everyone for your thoughts and prayers , don't know what I've done without ya'll .
