Another Dog Show this weekend
« on: October 11, 2006, 08:10:04 am »
Well we are getting ready for dog show number two for Joy.  Again I am very nervous, and haven't had too moch time to work with her.  I bathed her yesterday and will again tomorrow, am tryin to get her coat under some sort of control.  She has massive curls going on for a newfie.
We leave tomorrow afternoon, Thurs., the show starts Friday morning.
She is entered in puppy sweeps and Junior puppy (6-9 months).

Anyone have any suggestions on getting curly hair on a newfs back to lay down.

Wet the area down and force blow dry it stright.  I also have seen some people using a flat iron on some of the dogs.  You could even try one of those stright hair shampoos in that area.  Good luck at the show.

Some Newfs do have a more wavy coat!

To try to get it to dry flat, when you have bathed her, brush the hair straight and put a wet towel over the top. Then dry with a hair dryer.... Hopefully it should straighten her coat a bit! I am sure I have seen other people at shows using hair spray on their dogs ;)
