Putting out an alert regarding an Irish Wolfhound
« on: December 15, 2006, 08:32:05 am »
I am a member of another forum where a member was looking to rehome her Irish Wolfhound because he had a severe disability that required surgery that she could not afford. Several members rallied support for this dog and the owner, and provided ample opportunity for the dog to recieve treatment at NO cost to her, which she refused????

It is suspected, but not verified, that the dog was released to Gentle Giants Rescue in Norco, CA, though no one is 100 percent sure.

If anyone hears of an Irish Wolfhound showing up in any shelter or rescue organization in ANY state or even Canada, please let me know. There are several people willing to give this dog a forever home, and all are concerned and want to know that he has not be put to sleep.

Especially if anyone knows of a wheaten wolfhound in a shelter, could you please relay a link or phone number my way so that a call can be made? Due to his disability and the cost of surgery, most shelters would likely euthanize him quickly, and it would be a tragedy for this to happen, as so many people are looking for him and willing to help.

It is possible that a older rough coated Saint Bernard female is with him.

I can be reached at Danegrrrl@hotmail.com

Thanks guys.

The wolfhound in TX didn't have a disability, he was supposedly very healthy.

I hope this wolfhound in question ends up ok. :-[

:'( Maybe somehow he will get adopted fast and get the heck out of there. I sure hope he's neutered already...

That's the worst part about it, he is only 8 months old, severely disabled, and is still intact. However the good news is that tomorrow there will be an attempt to adopt him out of GG's if at all possible, but he may be worth more to Burt and Tracy intact than an adoptable. Please have best wishes for this boy and his sister Stella the Saint Bernard. It is said that the Saint Bernard with the IW has been taken in by a family, so it is very unlikely that the two are together.
If the adoption is a success than the IW will be recieving the surgery that he desperatly needs to live a pain free life.

After we looked into them, we were disgusted.  Among other things, their fees are through the roof and they make you sign a contract saying you will buy their dog food till the dog dies.  No info was made available on the nutritional contents of their food.

Do a search on them and you will find minutes of a Norco city meeting where they were questioned about filthy conditions at the site.
