ty the daddy is so sweet with them he curls up on the babies when the mom is getting something to eat  one of them is almost always on the babies keeping them warm

i cant imagine not having at least a same sex pair of gerbils, ive had gerbils for so many years. i love the lil guys. the daddy today paniced. he is too scared to pick up the babies like the mom does and one of them got out of the nest, he started to pick her up then stopped and looked around like "help please?" waiting on the mom then he just curled up over her waiting on the mom so she could move the pup. hes such a good daddy

my little runt died  he was my only male, and he came down with a severe URI and failure to thrive... the girls are growing and soooo fat.. but my poor little buddy didnt make it..

AAwww I'm sorry. Looks like the others will be light colour like daddy? This goes to show how gerbil stupid I am ~ didn't know you'd keep the dad with the mom and pups, and that he'd care for them. Also can she get preg right after having this litter?

if she chooses.. they can sometimes just decide against.. i had one girl few years ago whohad many litters and lived a long life (for a gerbil) she was near4. and yeah the male makes a great daddy.. i had to take the pup from him cause he was frantic licking his face trying to get him to move and poor little thing had already gone..
