Hi, Newbie.
« on: February 02, 2007, 11:42:46 pm »
Hello.

My name is Shay-Leigh, and i absolutly love my Ebonnie.  ;D
If you havnt already read her Bio yet, ill just fill you in  :) Not long ago my baby girl snapped her Cruciate/ Cartilage in both rear legs; from unknown reasons (Suspected high risk jumping off rock wall)! We try to make everything much easier for her now, and started putting up cautious safety hazards (Fence on rock wall so she cannot jump off, again).

I was just wondering whether anybody knows anything more in depth about this and how it usually happens, and how we can help her through the rest of her life, so it never, unfortunatly, happens again.

Thanks Everybody.

I don't know much about the cruciate ligaments but just wanted to say that Ebonnie is gorgeous, and 110lbs is a BIG female rottie! Glad to hear that she is recovering well.

Hi and welcome to the board.  Ebonnie is a cutie.  I have dealt with a couple of partial cruciate tears on my girl Kaila.  She had the first one when she was under a year old so I opted for no surgery and went with conservative maintenance.  She reinjured the same ligament not too long ago and I put her back on conservative maintenance to heal.  She is doing well.  My vet told me that the injury can be caused by anything but most likely it was caused by a quick turn or jumping and landing wrong on her leg during play.
Kaila - Belgian Malinois
Shiner - Malinois x Ridgeback

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for the inconvenience

Thankyou everybody for your support and help.

Ebonnie is STILL in rehab, and in a couple of weeks she should be completely normal and able to walk on a leash by then. But it is a long process and we know that in the latter stages of life she will be highly prone to arthritis ect.

I will surly post some pictures on the site ASAP.

Hi and welcome!  Ebonnie is beautiful!  I'm sorry to hear about her injury.  Our Sasha (a newfie girl) recently injured her cruciate ligament.  Thankfully it wasn't torn, but she's on week 4 of crate rest after surgery to stabilize the joint.  Sasha and I can certainly relate to the long recovery period.

Glad to hear that Ebonnie is well on her way to recovering!  Welcome again!

Jessica, Sasha and Bella :)
