Losing my old girl Abby today
« on: February 09, 2007, 01:16:42 pm »
Today I have to leave work early to put my sweet little Abby to sleep.  She is the sweetest cat you can ever imagine.  I have hours of video of my first son laying on her, hugging her, playing toys with her, and even Abby dragging him down the hall because he had big 'ol clumps of her fur in his fists (he was just a baby).  She's 13 years old, and has suffered renal failure.  I wish I could express how perfect of a pet she is.  I will miss her, and my son is sooooooooooooo oooooo heart broken.  Just wanted to share her story and pic since she's never been introduced here before. The pic was taken yesterday at the vet.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, Abby is such a beautiful girl. I had a similar situation with my Ragdoll girl, Missy.  It's so hard, but you just don't want them to suffer.  :'( RIP sweet Abby.

Thanks guys. I haven't lost a pet like this in a long time so I feel sort of... sedated about it all right now.  I just didn't want to not share Abby with everyone before this happens today, because then I would feel like I hadn't honored her in life (I don't know if that makes any sense). I plan to be right with her during the whole thing so that her family is the last thing she sees. Anyway, thanks for the support.

It's done, and Abby is free now from what I am sure must have been horribly painful.  It was sooooo hard to say good bye to her.  I mostly got on here because I wanted all of you to know that you and this place mean SOOOOO much to me! It's amazing to me the people that are here at BPO.  Some of the words on this post have moved me to tears. So much compassion and caring for others. This is truly an amazing place, and you are all truly amazing people.  I am grateful that you are in my life.

OK, so yes this is sappy, but after tonight that's all I got is sap! Thanks to everyone for your support.

I'm very sorry. One of my cats is terminally ill with cancer right now, and I know this is coming up (he has exceeded the vet's estimates by far now, but it's still coming, unfortunately). It scares me.

Take care. Abby was lucky to have such a great person.

We are so sorry for the loss of Abby. Many of us not only have Big Paws, but we have kids of the feline species also.  Our thoughts are with you and your family.
