Gypsy,

Thank you for the compliment.  That dog you are talking about I believe is Ilacom's Spirit of the Wolf.  I lost that dog at 4 years of age.  He went into a burning barn and rescued an entire litter of 6 week old puppies.  His coat caught on fire and I had to have him put down due to the exteme burns.  He was my honey.  I am showing his grandson "Warrior" now.  He is the only dog I have left out of that bloodline.  I have attached the picture I think you are talking about.

OMG! What a brave and honorable dog you had to think of others' safety before his own. And gorgeous to boot! I am so sorry he had to suffer so much before he passed on. The pain must have been excruciating!
Hugs,

The night he got burned, I took him to the vet and my regular vet was not on call that weekend.  His partener met us at the clinic at 1am.  You could tell he was not too happy to be called out of bed.  He gave us ointment ran 2 liters of IV fluid into him and sent him home for me to care for.  No pain meds no nothing.  I sat up with him all night and at 3 am he was trying to eat the boogie man or what ever it was that was too close to his goats.  That bravery in the face of what he was suffering just broke my heart.

I took him back to the vet and when I called I told the receptionist that I was bringing in a dog that needed put down due to burns.  She said the vet was at the sale barn and not available.  I told her that I would be at the sale barn with him in 20 min to have him put down and she better figure out how to get him available or else.

Thank God it was my regular vet and he was as mad at his partner as I was for not putting him down the previous evening.  So he died in my arms, knowing he was loved but it's always stayed with me.... the massive heart and bravery he displayed.

One had a small burn on the top of her head where something melted and dripped on it ( very small), that was it.  They were all sold prior to the fire and they all went to their homes with no problem

Well his line goes on.  I have 4 puppies out of his grandson Warrior.  They are 8 weeks old.  I swear, every one of them is pyrsonality plus.  We are having such fun with them.  We went on a long hike back into the woods the other day and took them along.  They had a ball!  But 4 puppies slept all afternoon after that trip...lol  It's strange, for some reason, Im not in a hurry to sell these pups.  They are all so darling and we are having such a good time with them.

I am so glad all the pups made it okay, but just thinking about how brave he was and how he went in for thouse puppies, is heartbreaking. I can not imagine actually having been there, let alone it being my dog.

I will be thinking of you and your brave boy for a long long time to come.
