diesel got another flat on his road to fatness... help!

well.  today i found out that somehow or another diesel and ONLY diesel came up with hook worms     because diesel has been dewormed 4 times in the past 6 months (trying to figure out why he just isn't gaining weight the vet's only answer is that he has worms that just aren't showing up on the fecal yet.  his idea was that diesel "must have" a whip worm infestation or "something."  i think the worm medicine did more harm than good) i told the vet i wanted to look for a holistic way of getting rid of them.  reason being, diesel gets diahhrea HORRIBLY and stops eating, and acts really lethargic after worming medicine and i want to see if i can find a better way of going about this.  does anyone have any ideas?

it really stinks, because he was doing SO good with his weight.  then about two or three days ago he started going downhill again.  fast.  losing weight, and not acting like himself.  not even getting excited over peanut butter!  i just don't understand why he gets sick SO easy.  every time we have him almost looking great something happens and he goes for a nose dive again.

Hi,

You can use DE externally too to rid fleas and ticks, just sprinkle in the coat and it discourages the pests on the outside too.

thanks!  i'll keep that in mind for the future!  fortunately, we haven't had any problems with fleas or ticks.  we do flea shampoo every 2 weeks and haven't had more than one or two fleas.  (this is one reason i'm so confused on why diesel keeps getting sick, he's never exposed to external parasites, other dogs, etc...  i think i heard they can get some worms from the yard though, i just can't remember which ones it was)

i'll see if i can find some!  i don't know why it is, but diesel gets sick SO easy.  it's always something.  whether he's limping b/c he tripped up (yes up) the steps, or a skin irritation, or tummy trouble, or something.  always something though.  it seems like he's always sick, and his weight is always going up and down drastically.  literally, one day he'll look AWESOME then the next he'll be an ethiopian dane again.
