feeding a new puppy
« on: August 24, 2007, 05:46:57 am »
Hello, my name is Brenda and I have a 12 week basset named Lola. I read on some of these messages that I should not feed more than 24% protein.  I am feeding her Innova Puppy and it says 26%  protein.  Is this ok?  I just recently found out at her vet check that she has a luxating patella so I am very concerned about making sure the food is right.

Unfortunately the breeder is not offering for luxating patella. I did call the breeder and their vet and informed them of the diagnosis so hopefully they will take it to heart and not breed that line anymore.  These pups were on their way to an animal shelter so I knew it would be risky as far as health problems, but we are in this for the long haul no matter what is ahead.  I have read to be careful with jumping and such, but wanted ot make sure about the food.  She is adorable.  If i figure out how to do pics I would love to show her off.  He big brother, choc lab, Rocky loves her too.
