Help! 6 Year Old Berner is becoming aggressive

My six year old Berner is becoming more aggressive and Bit my wife when she was giving her TLC    We are not sure what to do.     PUTTING HER DOWN IS NOT AN OPTION    NEED advice

Start with an appointment with your vet. Rule out any medical causes. She may have an underlying medical condition and your wife may have touched her and it hurt her. If the medical comes back clear, is she spayed, or has anything in your household changed lately.
If these are not possible answers, get with a trainer. But start with the vet first.

With a mature dog, I would think there is a medical reason behind the aggression.(Especially if behavior like this hasn't been exhibited before.) Definatly go to the vet and hopefully you will find out what is wrong. Good luck and keep us updated!
