Newborn pics and our scary story of this litter
« on: December 28, 2007, 02:23:19 pm »

This litter had 8 survivors, we lost three pups to mastitis, i was so exhausted and scared for them, when they die they die fast from this bacterial infection.
We are most fortunate to have 8 survivors as other newf breeders told me they lost whole litters to mastitis and others said they had one survivor.
My vet was wonderful and very knowlegable and helped to save these guys.

Congrats on your new litter and I'm so sorry that you lost 3 of the babies.  How are you holding up?

Hi all, an update for you!
it is a very happy one :)
the bottlefeeding is going well they are getting fat and sassy, they are vigorous healthy and talk back when i give them their antibiotic.
they hate the taste of it.
mom lives in the box with them, she is attentive and very gentle, and watchful over them.
she is doing great!
they all are thriving and well!
thanx so much for your concern, i think we are going to be ok now :)

OMG.  I am so sorry to hear about you losing some of your puppies.  That is hard.  We had one pup stillborn in each of ChiChi's litters and I cried each time.  I know it was meant to be, but still, it is hard.  The 8 you have will be a handfull for sure and I cannot imagine the work of bottlefeeding 8 squirmy little bundles of love. I only had to supplement the feedings of the runt in her last litter.  She had 12 that lived and the runt had a hard time at first.  After 2 weeks, you couldn't tell which one was the runt, from the size of them. Congratulation s on your beautiful babies and give their mom kisses for me.  She made some awesome puppies.
