Another foster puppy - Cassie
« on: August 02, 2005, 11:08:15 pm »
My rescue group has a new nickname for me, Pup Daddy! I'd like to introduce Cassie. She a pyr mix, single dews, pink spotted belly, anyone want to guess what the other breed is from her looks? The owner who surrendered her said she's 6-8 months old, she has lots of adult teeth, but is only 20 pounds. She's eaten twice tonight, and tomorrow I'm going to cook her a batch of satin balls.

She was covered with fleas, but after a Capstar, a 20 minute bath, and a dosing of Revolution, she's bug free. Lots of little sores on her belly, but nothing bad.

She doesn't like being picked up, but once I get her in my lap she doesn't want to move. Sit on the ground, and she'll crawl right into you lap! I don't think she's ever been abused, but has never been loved and cared for.

She's the first dog I've had that ever dared to get into my Daddy Chair. White and red do look good together!

The second picture is her and Deuce, my other foster puppy.

We believe Deuce is a Border Collie or Aussie mix

I am soooooo glad you are cooking for this sweet girl.  It look like the owner did not always remember to feed her.  I bet she is so happy to be with some one that is taking care of her needs.

Oh my Heavens, that is a beautiful puppy! And boy is she lucky to have Pup Daddy as a foster parent! Poor little sweetie is going to do great once she has good food in her belly and lots of love. What a little angel. Both of them actually. How fun to have those two cuties around!
Good luck! Give Cassie and Deuce some pats on the head from me!  :)

I vote either lab or collie mix. Whatever she is she is absolutely beautiful!!

What are satin balls? I've never heard of that. Is that like BARF?

I've included the recipe. They are a hamburger and other good stuff concoction to put weight on dogs.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Satin Balls

The following recipe was sent to Wellpet by Diana Carreon, R.N.,C.
It quickly became one of the most requested posts on Wellpet.

Ingredients

10 pounds hamburger meat [the cheapest kind]
1 lg. box of Total cereal [or comparable natural brand]
1 lg. box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.

Divide into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze.

Thaw as needed.

Yippee!
Cassie was adopted. A nice family in Ft Worth got her. My heart is only half broken. This was a hard puppy to let go of!
