I need a raised feeder...
« on: July 25, 2008, 08:07:25 am »
So, Im looking for a raised feeder that I can keep dog food in also. Problem, is - how much do they hold? Ive seen a few that are really cute, but can you fit a 30 pound bag of food in there?  Right now I have a tall tupperware thingy on wheels that holds the bag perfectly, but Im trying to save some space with so many dog bowls in the kitchen!   Any suggestions of ones you like?  Also, when do you start using them for newfs? I read they should be positioned 4 inches under their shoulders, so do you change sizes or get the final one and start young and they grow into it?  Here are 2 I was looking at.. thoughts?

I think I like the 2nd one for how it looks the best, but the 1st one seems like it would be more funcional, easy to use and looks as though it would hold more.  Sorry, I'm not much help.  :-[ :)  Try looking at Petsmart.com too

Here's a link to their raised feeder page thinger.  :)

I like those.. but how do you open them? Is it a lift the top off or a drawer? Also, does water leak though to the food or is there a plastic piece under the bowls?

so the water bowl doesnt come out - just the food bowl? I guess you take out the food bowl to pour the bag of food into the storage. Is that the only way to open it if you want to clean it?

Well I use the large 6QT aluminin bowls and place them in metal plant stands from walmart. They are just the right height and they only cost 6 bucks each. As for her bags of food I keep it sealed tight in a new clean trash can.

now, that is the most ingenious thing I have heard since the post a month ago about using crib mattresses as dog beds! Man I love this place! Keep the great suggestions coming!

I got my raised feeder at Walmart, it was really cheap, under $15 I think and it adjusts to different heights. I started with it low for Clifford and now he is at the top height. The food I keep in a separate plastic container which he figured out how to open this week so now I have this huge plastic container on top of the kitchen table until I figure out how to latch it or get another one.
