Puppy age
« on: February 15, 2009, 01:05:20 pm »
How do you tell the age of a puppy as to whether they are 8-9 weeks or closer to 12 weeks? A litter of puppies were rescued out in the woods close to their dead mother. They "appear" to be Newfoundland mix. The lady who is fostering them said that the vet says that they are about 3 months old but she thinks that they are closer to 2 months old by the way they look and act. How can you tell with puppies that young?
Thanks.

mom to:
Spenser - Pyr/Newf mix
Cleo, Cody, Taryn, Mal - the aristocats
Concho & Dehlia - horses
Popeye & Merlin - the birds

I can't really help except to say it is hard to tell. I got Annie from the Humane society who thought she was about 10 weeks old. That put her birthday in middle February so I just made her birthday Valentines day so I would remember it. She just turned 9yrs old. Since they are not with their mother anyway it probably doesn't matter much if they are 8, 10, or 12 weeks old.
