Training "Take It"
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:27:55 pm »
any advice on how to train your dog to take items other than food?  i've tried training with treats but they don't seem to be making the connection that take it means "mom wants you to put this non food item in your mouth".

I used a clicker shaping technique  :) Here is a great article explaining it all. Before training "take it" with dumbbell, I used toys and gloves  ;D Hope this helps

I trained it via the clicker method too.  Works great.  :)  Good luck!
