The odd points of owning Clifford....I wonder....
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:42:52 pm »
Clifford The Big Red Dog {yes the cartoon}

I Wonder..

* Who cleans up his poop?

* How many cows does it take to make his dog food?

* Where and how will they bury him when he dies?

* How big is his drool-rag?

* What does he 'mark' on? Houses? Electricity poles?

* How did they neuter him?

* If he's not neutered, does he try the dirty deed on Cleo?

* Why is he based on a Vizsla, one of the smallest pointer breeds, and not a Dane?

* Why is Jetta still Emily's friend? Seriously, Emily, smack that snobby ***** upside the head already!

* How come nobody seems to notice how big he is? Tourists to the island look through him, as if he's an ordinary dog. Why is it no big game hunter has yet shot him?

 :D :D :D :D :D

No more Happy Hour episodes of Clifford for you!

I'm guessing:

City Sanitation Dept cleans up after Clifford with help from some heavy equipment operators.

No cows - Clifford's into unique protein food so he goes for a fish based formula.

They won't bury him - he'll be encased in cement and become a tourist attraction.  All those tourists that ignored him in life will flock to have their pictures taken with him!

Drool rag?  Look at those lips.  Clifford's a dry mouthed dog.

Marking on electric poles?  That would be "shocking"!   :o

I'm guessing they neutered him with the classic rope around the testicles manuever.

I don't know squat about any of the other characters in the Clifford books so I'm no help on your other questions.   ;D
Ruthanna - the Triplets' mom

Ursa, CGC -  11 month old Great Pyrenees
Fargo, CGC - 9 month old Newfoundland

I actually wondered about the drooling bit.

I thought that thanks to the size of the jowls, and the type of food he'd be consuming, that dribble would escape every now and again.

He just seems un naturally clean for a big dog.

Wish my big paw didn't constantly drool like a toothless 90 year old lady.

I always heard he was based on a St Bernard.
If he's not neutered, does he try the dirty deed on Cleo?
probably, I just wrote on another post about Clifford trying to do it to Annie our Jack Russel. She is between his front paws and he's moving his back end, but it is a good 2 feet or so away from her.
Who cleans up his poop?
Yes, it would take an awfully big pooper scooper to clean up after Clifford.
Why is Jetta still Emily's friend? Seriously, Emily, smack that snobby ***** upside the head already
Because all Emily's are such nice tolerant people ::)

Clifford The Big Red Dog: Male red dog, based on a giant Vizsla
: off the Wikipedia site.

I hoped you wouldn't think I was meaning your Clifford!

A giant Visla would be interesting.
I found another site that says he was based on a bloodhound.
I know you weren't talking about my Clifford. Clifford the big Red Dog is of course who I named him after. Always liked the books with the little girl being named Emily. The first book came out in 1962 which was the year I was born. I had Clifford's name picked out before I ever had him picked out.

I always wanted a red setter called Clifford.
And then I met my first Great Dane and knew what I really wanted!

I meant I didn't want you to read the subject line and think I was making some bad comment about your pup.

Haahaa, I never really thought that deeply into Clifford... granted I was only a kid and didn't think about those things back then, even with my dog around :P
