Loving the art... here's some of mine
« on: September 08, 2005, 05:40:15 pm »
Here's a few pics I painted a couple of years ago. The whale painting was a gift to a 11 year old girl (daughter of someone I used to work with) who asked me to sketch a whale for her, what a surprise it was when I gave her the painting which is 24" x 19" as I remember. The sunflower is not the finished picture, it was a wedding present for someone and I gave it to them before I had a chance to take a picture of the finished painting.

Acrevolt, awesome paintings! What medium did you use? That whale one has such a serene feeling to it.
Here's an old one of mine which I still like a whole lot, one of my first commissioned portraits from long ago.
 :)

That's true talent!...I always wished I could draw or paint...I write poetry...I have always found that true animal lovers are artistic types as they are very feeling people.

doghealer, i checked out your website and I love your work!! What medium do I use? Anything I can reach. LOL. The whale painting was acrylic used with water on water colour paper (I can't remember what pound).

Since we're sharing, here's a few of mine.  The first is a little rough sketch of Drake I did the other day.  I need to do more of him.  The second one was a study I did for the logo for the National Newfoundland Show several months ago.  It wasn't reproduceable so I had to go back and do something more simplistic and graphic for the committee, so they could make T-shirts and posters with it.  I still like this one better.  I don't do a lot of animal drawings but I enjoy it when I do.

Excellent work!!

I have absolutely NO artistic ability; I can barely draw stick people.

You never know until you try.  I think you would surprise yourself if you sat down and drew for just 15 minutes a day.  Get one of those pocket sized sketch books so you can take it anywhere.   I used to ride on the Muni Bus in San Fran to go to school and I would draw the people I saw.  The bumpy ride forced me to not make things so perfect and I got some really cool pics from some funny situations.  Practice makes perfect.

Love the Great White Sharks!  True monsters on earth!  Graceful but deadly, scares the crap out of me even though it is very unlikely I will be killed by one.  Very nice paintings! I used a Great White in a huge charcoal drawing I did in Art School (approx. 4'x6') in which we had to draw a "Nightmare".
