I suggest you try raising the food bowl. I suspect she is laying down because she finds it uncomfortable to bend down to eat.

Mine has been doing that lazy eating thing since she turned about 7 years old. Not only is she a lazy eater, but she refuses to eat until everyone around her is relaxed and sitting in the room, pretending to not have ten million other things to do. Friends say this is because I never sit down, and she just got tired of seeing me rush around while she was trying to enjoy her food.

Pippin does that sometimes too...Actually I have heard it is better for them to eat lying down...I have heard of people feeding their dogs in their crates so they ahve to lie down to eat.

Kiah used to do that too. I got raised food bowls. I'm not sure what way is better. Raised or not. There's still a lot of debate out there about it.

Apache lays down to eat, I have absolutely no problem with it. He also eats very casually. Kiya gets to excited.

i don't think it's the raised bowl vs. not-raised-bowl issue...

cuz last nite, i tossed in some rice, and boy, she stood up and gobbled that up RIGHT quick. both of dogs aren't very fond of the Diamond/Kirkland brand. we're nearly at the bottom of the bag, so i think it's time to switch back to Canidae...
