What are your big paws doing on Halloween night?
« on: October 29, 2005, 09:33:11 am »
Zoey generally loves everyone she meets, but when people knock on the door or ring the doorbell, she freaks out and barks up a storm. We live on a main street so we are expecting lots of trick or treaters this year, and I know that is going to be stressful for zoey. We think we are going to put zoey upstairs in our bedroom with music on and some bully sticks and toys. We are either going to give her some rescue remedy, or a sedative (we got one from the vet for the next time we cut her nails and we are supposed to do a trial run to see how long it takes to kick in, so we might do the trial run on monday when we know that the trick or treaters will stress her out).

What are your furkids doing on Monday night?

I don't know, I'll probably have to lock all three kids in our room with some toys. They'll all freak out if we get trick or treaters.

The dogs come with me, as we escort Casey on her tour of Halloween gluttony. Other than that we take the screen out of the top of the front screen door and that way we don't have to open the door to dispense goodies. Actually, by the time we return from our neighborhood stroll they are tired enough to just put up a tolken alarm to anyone that comes by.

This is Sasha's first Halloween.  We're hoping she'll like meeting people and help us give out the candy.  If not, one of us will hang out with her in the back and the other will give out candy.  We were going to dress her up, but she doesn't seem to like that much ::)  Maybe just some little horns or something small...

This is Dazy's first Halloween.  If Alyx decides to go Trick or Treating, Dazy will accompany her.  Either walking with Alyx and my husband or hangin' out sittin' on a bench with me.  Depending on how she reacts.  But "normally" she is wonderful around people.  Even a lot of people.  So we'll see.

This is our first Halloween here.
I'm expecting lots of Ghouls and Goblins! Since we live across the street from a school.
Tulsa is easily excited, but it's usually by other dogs.
So unless the kids don't dress up as DOGS on SKATEBOARDS, I think she will be alright!
Guess I'll have to buy candy that I like if she FREAKS!

Our neighborhood is a rural area and all the houses are at least an acre apart so I don't think we will get any trick or treaters, but if we did the dogs would for sure go nuts and bark them, and then they would probably just leave anyway.
I guess we'll see what happens.  :)

I'm going to be walking around with my son on halloween night. I'm hoping to take Bubba with me. I can work on his heel with distractions.  :D

Bubba doesn't seem bothered with the costumes. My son put his mask on and Bubba just ignored it all together. But he's usually really hyper at first with kids. So if he's pulling me to visit all the children I may have to rethink my idea.

Puck will retire to our bedroom for the evening with treats and toys. He hates masks!

Farley  will be joining my daughter going out trick or treating. Who knows how it will go. Hope we don't meet any kids dressed as a dolphine..ha.. ha :o

Koby will go insane if we keep him here while the doorbells ringing. So I got him a super cute bandana (he's wearing it in my avatar) and Tony will take him trick or treating with him and Kenna!  We did it this way last year and it all went wonderfully.  He loves kids anyway, so he gets lots of loves and hugs when he's out and about.  The costumes don't bother him.  Ramsey on the other hand FLIPS OUT!  Hates trick or treaters so he'll be in his kennel with a treat and toy.

Zoey is doing so well with the trick or treaters coming to the door! I am so proud of her!

We haven't had too many trick or treaters, so we decided to keep her with us in the living room with a baby gate up so she can't get to the door, and I have been trying to open the door before they ring the doorbell...She barked at the first couple, but the last group there were a ton of kids and even a dog. And she didn't bark once!  I was so proud of her :)

We had ours on Saturday. I put Rocky on a long leash and tied him to the porch. My hubby sat with us and when the kids would come he would hold onto Rocky's collar and we kept praising him for being such a good boy!! He never showed any aggression at all. I want to train him as a therapy dog so we try to allow him as much socialization as possible and he did great!!!

We are staying inside and chillin' since I am sick and Michael is working. Oh well....we've trick-or-treated the past 2 years and there is always next year.

Dozer is quite upset with me for giving away all his candy. The kids come on the porch. I go outside to hand out the candy while Dozer is standing in the window barking.  One cute little girl says I want to say Hi to the doggy. So she waves at him while looking in the window and she says Mommy Mommy I see three doggys. I think that was the highlight of her night :D

The girls helped me keep an eye out for the kids and ofcourse all we could hear were "Mom look at the Snow Dogs". Here is a pic of my clowns trying to fit in Nala's crate. This was last week.
