This was posted on one of my other rooms.  I posted the pics at the bottom.  I think he's WAY too small to be a Mastiff, but I'm not a mastif person.

What cute puppies.  Maggie is very cute, can't see any poodle though..lol

If he's full grown he's not an English mastiff, they're taller.  The Bullmastiffs and Neopolitian mastiffs are shorter.  How old is he?  Is he maybe a mix?  Whatever he is, he's very handsome!

i am not a mastiff person either but i have met a few that were seemingly on the smaller side. and they were english mastiffs.  i think bullmastiffs are smaller than english mastiffs. again i am not an expert on them.

I have never seen a male mastiff that small.  A female, maybe, but not a male.

If it is a purebred, I would agree it is either an english or bullmastiff.

I just spoke to her on the thread and she said she rescued him from an abusive situation.  So they don't know anything about his background.

My friend used to have a mastiff and I have to agree that they are normally huge!!! He does look like a pure breed other than his size, saying that if it was an abusive situation they obviously didnt care about him sohe could have had a bad diet and this could have effected his size dramatically.

My rottie Shy was neglacted and after only 2 weeks with us she had put on over 3kg and grown 2 and half inches, but she is still a growing pup but it just shows you what a good diet can do

tinyrottie, true about him maybe not having had a good diet growing up.  that would definately effect his size.  and maybe he didnt get the exercise he need to strengthen muscles and bones, maybe crated alot while he was young.

We just adopted an English Mastiff 14 months old. She weighs 110 lbs. She is very tall. Taller than my gr. pyr. I know she will grow more. When she is laying down, she looks very small to me. She can make herself fit into much smaller places than my pyr. She was always crated and fed poor quality food. I think now she will fill out with more excercise and quality food and look like a mastiff not a great dane. How old is the dog in the picture? Maybe he is still young. He looks like a pure mastiff.

Questions about the mastiff pics you posted in this thread...
Height, approx. age, & weight? Do you know if it has a tail or is it docked?
I have a couple of really good clues, but I would need more info & maybe another pic or 2.
-k.

If he was from a puppy mill or BYB it is very possible that he is a full english mastiff.  I have heard about many of the mill and byb mastiffs being on the smaller side (90-125 lbs) and not as typey - a bit more houndish in the face.  I don't see any bull mastiff in his face at all.

He is an adorable dog regardless of whether or not he is full.

i'm definately not an expert but he looks like a bullmastiff to me at least from what i can see he looks about the same size as my bully.

VERY handsome though!

Dogs laugh.... by wagging their tails

Looks like it could be a Boerboel, also known as a South African Mastiff.  The usually have docked tails, although not always.  They are smaller than the English mastiff, but look almost identical to them.
