A Newfie Poem
Yer big jibs can draw
You can come when yer beckened
A story I'll tell
that you all can reckon
Fell in love with a dog
a long time ago
named after the place
that I call home
Could never have dreamed
I would bring him home
destiny won
and it came with a bone
15 years I waited and read
then I went out
and bought a great big bed
curled up and sleeping
my Angus does snore
and the bed is kicked
away from the door
Angus is perfect
in every way
as long as there's food
to offer in pay
he jumps and he rolls
until he is hot
for 3 straight hours
I comb out the knots
A big baby he is
that, I do not contest
as he looks up at me
then shows me his chest
Rub his belly
is my job in this home
and stuff peanut butter
into his bone
He loves to lick people
whenever he can
most don't like it
they are not a big fan
With slobber hanging
a head shake will do
to cover the walls
and my wife's new do!
