Dog Transport - UK Style
« on: February 24, 2006, 08:30:39 pm »
I love to read the Dog Transport discussions on B.P.O. it gives me a flavour of the USA, with SUV and ATV and seven seats........

For your amusement I present, Doggy travels, Yorkshire Style. Meet Suzi. Suzi has been with me for several years, so many, I've lost count. She cost me £500 ($750.00) all those years ago and has now done 126,000 miles. She has literally travelled the length and breadth of the UK. She's coped with blizzards and downpours in Scotland and even the odd bit of sunshine. She loves Newfoundlands and Newfoundlands love her, it's their second home!

Haha and people give us looks when we have one newf staring out the windows of our PT Cruiser or when we're driving the nard mobile....the worst Ford Explorer in the world that has even Suzi beat....the head of the gearshift comes off when you shift into second ::).   At least the Ford Explorer belongs to the vet and not us...I've also had the two nards in my saturn and they both sat in the back like people and stared at the people in the cars next to us...that got some double takes.  Yes we have numerous vehicles in which they've all ridden in.  Then there's the trucks too.
Erin and the critters
Kali ~ the newf
Lacey ~ the aussie
Gabby ~ Holsteiner mare
Fire ~ Appendix Quarter Horse/Belgian gelding
Lilah and Hannah ~ Kali's kitties

I love that last photo - you should use it for a caption competition?

Your dogs are gorgeous!!!!  I love that first picture.  We have a full sized van.  When we went looking to buy a vehicle, we were looking for something to fit 3 kids and 3 large dogs.  I opened the back of our Savanah and there was about 5' of cargo space.  SOLD!!!!!!!  Found out years later it was still not big enough for a Pyr and the next male down on the pecking order :o

I'd have thought it about right, three dogs on the bench seat and Hubby in the back! ;D

You haven't lived unless you've travelled to a dog show in the back of a transit van, sitting on a very springy and wobbly garden chair. The dogs, of course, were safely stowed away in their wire crates safely bungeed in place while I bounced about like I was riding a rodeo bull.
