Leash Training
« on: May 06, 2006, 09:01:01 am »
So we've had Black Jack for 1w now and he's an absolute doll. A little rough on the nipping, but it's getting better.
He's used to wearing his buckle collar, so how do I go about leash training.
I had one on him for about 30min the other day, just letting him drag it around. He spent most of his time chewing it and did a good job at ripping part way through it.
Is 7w too young to be starting leash training?
Do I just continue putting the leash on and letting it drag around?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Personally at 7 weeks, I wouldn't bother with much other than maybe desensitizing the pup to the leash, since you can't really go anywhere until the dog has had multiple rounds of shots to be safe.
At that age with nylon leashes, the pup will see it as a toy, and you'll adly probably go through leashes faster than you need to, you know?
